Upper Callovian and Oxfordian molluscs and brachiopods from selected localities of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland and the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, Poland

The aim of the study was taxonomic, morphological, ecological and stratigraphic characterization marine invertebrate groups from localities Wiek Wysoka (Krakow-Częstochowa Upland) Gnieździska (Świętokrzyskie Mountains). All these three were unused quarries where limestone once mined. material consisted a total 756 fossils collected by author studied sites or constituting part collections Department Vertebrate Ecology Palaeontology at University Environmental Life Sciences in Wrocław. When describing marking fossils, attention paid to state preservation, morphology, size, shape presence structures characteristic given taxon. Among gastropods, bivalves, ammonites, belemnites, brachiopods. These organisms found upper Callovian (Middle Jurassic) Oxfordian (Upper sediments are approximately 157.3–166.1 million years old. Different invertebrates dominated individual sites. quarry, most numerous brachiopods, locality group collection quarry belemnites. In total, 18 genera belonging 13 families recorded. among Ammonitida, mostly represented genus Perisphinctes. single ammonite shell Horioceras recorded, which has not been recorded this site so far. Cardioceras, Lissoceratoides, Trimarginites also distinguished. diverse eight recorded: Lacunosella, Septaliphoria, Epithyris, Juralina, Loboidothyris, Sellithyris, Zeillerina, Terebratulina. revealed one gastropods—Nerinea, two bivalves—Lima Posidonia, general belemnites—Belemnopsis Hibolites. inhabited shallow warm shelf sea that covered large area present territory Poland during Jurassic period.
